In the media and other sightings

Over the years, I have been fortunate to contribute to the field of hypnotherapy through teaching, public speaking, and event organisation. Whether delivering talks, writing articles, or co-running major industry events, I am passionate about sharing knowledge, fostering professional development, and engaging with both practitioners and the wider public. Here are some of my key media appearances and contributions:

Nov 2024
For the third consecutive year, I co-organised and successfully ran the UK Hypnosis Convention, working alongside my esteemed colleagues Adam Eason and Steve Baxter. Once again, I delivered the Welcome Speech, setting the tone for an inspiring weekend filled with learning, collaboration, and innovation in the field of hypnotherapy.

Mar 2024
I taught a morning session on managing overwhelming emotions and cultivating compassion to enthusiastic students on the Intensive Hypnotherapy Diploma course at the Anglo European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis in Bournemouth. The session sparked valuable discussions and deep insights.

Nov 2023
I co-organised and successfully ran the UK Hypnosis Convention, delivering the opening speech to a captivated audience. The event brought together leading experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to explore the latest developments in hypnotherapy.

Nov 2022
After a pause during the pandemic, the UK Hypnosis Convention returned, and I was part of the organising team alongside Adam Eason and Steve Baxter. I had the honour of delivering the Welcome Speech to officially reopen the event and presented a session on ‘Working with Clients Who Have Overwhelming Emotions’. Though I had previously supported the convention in 2019, this marked my first year taking on a leadership role in its organisation.

Feb 2022
I delivered a 90-minute webinar with Q&A on ‘Working with Clients Who Have Overwhelming Emotions’ for the Anglo-European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis Development Hub. This session was designed to enhance the skills and confidence of students and newly qualified hypnotherapists.

Nov 2019
As part of the UK Hypnosis Convention team, I conducted a series of interviews with national and international hypnotherapists. These interviews provided deep insights into the work and expertise of presenters. I also played a key role in supporting the smooth running of the event.

Nov 2013
I was a guest speaker on BBC Radio Bristol, where I discussed the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in treating phobias, particularly spider phobias. This interview provided an opportunity to share how hypnotherapy helps individuals overcome fears in a supportive setting.

Jul 2012
I had an article published in the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) Journal, sharing my experience as a guest speaker on the radio and offering advice to those new to media appearances. The article, titled "Listen Very Carefully with Phil Hammond's Special Guest - Sarah Mortimer," can be found here.

Oct 2011
I was invited as a guest speaker on Dr. Phil Hammond’s BBC Radio Bristol Show, where I discussed the benefits of hypnotherapy, particularly in relation to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). A recording of the discussion is available on the right.
